Behind the scenes
Director's Note
The Hunt is my very own “if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry” ode to the shit show that is, renting in London. Prices are rising, rooms are shrinking, and sanity dwindling. In my own renting experience, I’d had my rent doubled, navigated a series of toxic housemates, undergone bizarre interview style house viewings, and I thought to myself, are we all losing our minds?
While soaring rental costs are now frequently making news headlines, I couldn't help but feel that the stories the media portrayed didn't even scratch the surface. So, if you're lucky enough to be a homeowner, you really cannot realise the pressure facing renters today. I decided this was a conversation I wanted to start, so I wrote a script compiled of my own and many other's experiences.
I said to myself, if I made a film about this what would it look like? I came back with three words: angry, feminine, and chaotic.
I knew I wanted it to feel mad, and having acted since the age of 5, I was heavily influenced by theatrical comedic devices. I'm also a huge fan of director's such as Edgar Wright and Emerald Fennel’s, so I fused them all together to come up with a script that I felt could deliver the message in a mad, funny and stylised way.
The Hunt is a comedy, but underneath the laughs, it’s a scream.

Words from the cast

Filming the Hunt was an incredible experience, from the amazingly talented cast and crew to being a part of bringing to life Becki’s vision and a character I related to with the pressure of moving out alongside London’s rental crisis
Becki had such a clear vision, which made it even more fun to go big and fully commit to each role. I had an amazing time working on The Hunt!
I had an amazing time playing such an eclectic mix of characters for this film. It was a wonderful team to be a part of and I’m excited for everyone to see the film
